How does the design process work at Mulberry Web Design?
We are committed to creating a website that genuinely captures the essence of your therapy practice’s distinctive brand and voice. Our design process involves several collaborative stages to ensure your website reflects your therapy practice and works to achieve your business goals. Here’s a brief overview of the process:
- Discovery: We begin by learning about you and your practice, your unique brand and voice, and your objectives for the website.
- Planning & Strategy: Based on what we learned during the discovery phase, we develop a strategic plan for your website, including its structure, layout, and copywriting needs.
- Moodboards: a moodboard is a collection of images, colors, and typography assembled together to represent a website’s overall aesthetic and style visually. The purpose of a moodboard is to establish a visual direction and set the tone for the design of a website.
- Design: Using what we learned from the discovery, strategy, and moodboard phase of the project, we craft a visually appealing and engaging website design that represents you and your services and, importantly, connects with your target audience.
- Working Mockup: Rather than providing a “picture” of a website design for approval, we create a working mockup of several of your web pages in WordPress, allowing you to preview the design, color palette, and page layouts in the way a website visitor would interact with your website.
- Development: Once you’re satisfied with the working mockup, our developers bring your vision to life, building a fully functional website on the WordPress platform.
- Review & Feedback: We present the finished website for review and incorporate any minor content tweaks you request.
- Launch & Training: Once you’re satisfied with the final website, we launch it and provide you with training on updating and managing your site using WordPress.
We maintain open communication throughout the process, ensuring your opinions and feedback are always incorporated.
Does Mulberry create websites on website builders like SquareSpace or WIX?
We do not create websites on platforms like Squarespace, Wix, Weebly, or Webflow.
While website builders provide a range of professional pre-built templates, the customization options are more limited than WordPress, which offers much greater flexibility in customizing a website’s design, functionality, and features.
Website builders like Squarespace or Wix are great choices for users who want to create a website quickly and easily without needing much technical expertise. Website builders are also good options if you have a modest budget, are a DIY’er, or still need to explore branding and content development for your first website.
Why does Mulberry focus on WordPress for website design and development?
WordPress may have started as a blogging platform, but now it powers over 800 million websites, so you know they are getting something right. Our commitment to WordPress is due to its exceptional flexibility and customizability, allowing us to create unique and personalized websites.
And WordPress’s user-friendly interface allows you to manage and update your site, even with a limited technical background. In short, we select WordPress for your website because it offers outstanding design and functionality possibilities while being easy for you to use.
How long does a website redesign project take?
The timeline for completing a website redesign project can vary depending on your specific requirements and the complexity of the website. But, as an example, a website redesign project with 25 pages of content and a blog with 30 articles will take between 8 to 12 weeks from the initial discovery phase to the final launch.
This timeline ensures that you can review, reflect, and provide feedback on the various project milestones without disrupting your busy schedule.
Can Mulberry help with ongoing website updates and content creation after the website is completed?
We love to help with ongoing website updates and content creation! We understand that keeping your website updated and refreshed with new content is essential for the success of your therapy practice (and for search engine ranking).
But, since we develop websites using WordPress, you can also edit and update your website content with relative ease. Typically, our clients make the changes they are comfortable with and ask us for help with everything else.
Do you provide Search Engine Optimization?
When search engines index your website, they include your web pages in their databases and offer links to those pages in search results. Where you appear in those results when someone searches for a keyword or keyphrase is called ranking.
Structuring your website for optimal indexing is a necessary part of Search Engine Optimization and does help with ranking, but it is not optimization specifically for ranking.
We provide baseline SEO to ensure your website is indexed correctly and positioned for future SEO ranking efforts. Pages will have META Titles & Descriptions, Alt tags for images, and meaningful URLs for each page.
We recommend Simplified SEO Consulting when you are ready to focus on visibility and ranking for keyterms and keyphrases. They have done great work on many of our client’s websites.
Do you work with clients outside of your local area?
It seems like a silly question after what we all went through in 2020, doesn’t it? But yes, we have always worked with clients across the country. We can easily collaborate with clients remotely, maintaining open communication via email, phone calls, or video conferencing.
Why do you ask for my budget? Shouldn’t you be telling me?
Great questions! Sharing your budget with your web designer is always helpful and is actually in your best interest. Here’s why.
Understanding your budget helps your web designer write their proposal to your specific needs. The situation is akin to a kitchen remodel, where the remodeler needs a budget range to recommend materials, designs, and features that align with your financial comfort zone while still creating a space that meets your expectations without overspending.
Sharing your budget also allows you to compare proposals from different design studios more accurately. For example, with a clear financial anchor, you will quickly see which studio provides the best value by comparing those proposals.
So, don’t be shy about this! Being transparent about your budget not only helps your web designer create a tailored proposal for you but also allows you to make better-informed decisions when comparing proposals.
It’s a win-win situation for both you and your web designer.
What’s the price range for a website redesign?
The cost of a website redesign, or “makeover,” depends on your site’s complexity, content offering, and desired features. But to give you a sense of what to expect, a custom redesign for a 10-12 page website typically falls within the $7,500 to $8,500 range. This covers the website design, development, and content “massaging” to ensure a cohesive brand personality and voice throughout.
Your website is likely one of your most important business assets and is often the first impression of your practice. A well-designed website can quickly connect with potential clients on an emotional level, help them trust you and your services, and encourage them to get in touch with you for help.
So, think about the makeover as an investment that contributes to your practice’s growth and success, not just a “necessary” expense.
How soon can you begin working on my web design project?
Our goal is to provide you with the best possible service, so we’re careful not to overextend ourselves by taking on too many projects simultaneously.
Our earliest available start date is usually six to eight weeks from our first conversation with you.
We’re be happy to schedule a consultation and then prepare a proposal for your project if you want to proceed. Accepting the proposal and submitting your deposit will secure the next available start date.
Is Mulberry Web Design the right fit for me?
Ultimately, only you can decide if we’re the right fit for your needs. But we certainly hope we are!
